Fun and Cake

When we got home from the play, we had a bit of quiet time and then jumped in th pool with Nanny and Dada.  We BBQd steak (Hailey's choice over pizza) and had dinner with cake after.  They even got a bedtime story read by Nanny. 

It was a nice family birthday party this year versus a big one with kiddos.  I just couldn't get a big one coordinated with the move and starting back to work (I'll write about that soon).  I'm thinking that we may do a big birthday-house warming party on May 29 which will be half way between the two girl's birthdays.  It won't be too hot yet and the pool with be warm without the heater. 

Regardless, I know Hailey had a wonderful day.  We love our 4 year old!

Charlotte's Web

 

We have been reading Charlotte's Web and finished just in time for a play that was being performed at a local theater in Scottsdale.  So I got tickets for Hailey's birthday.  It was put on by kids ages 3-15.  They did a great job!  It really followed the book well but in a musical format.  They both loved it.  They both agreed their favorite character was Charlotte because she was so pretty and so nice to Wilber.  My mom went with us to help make the day complete.

Hailey's Brithday Morning

 

The morning of Hailey's birthday consisted of trip to Dunkin Donuts to pick a birthday doughnut.  Pink with sprinkles, of course.  Opening her new dress that she would get to wear to the play in the afternoon, collecting the sparkles the unicorns left behind...and of course...swimming!  Brian heated the pool for the big day.  She LOVED it.

Twas the Night before Hailey's 4th birthday

 

The night before Hailey's birthday my mom and I decorated the house and the patio with purple unicorn theme.  While we were decorating the Unicorns were playing in the yard and pool and left sparkles in the yard.  They even left a new pool raft behind.  Those silly Unicorns. 

 

St Patrick's Day 2014

The Leprechauns returned this year for St Patrick's day to create mischief and deliver goodies.  They turned over the couch cushions and chairs and played with the toys.  They also turned the milk green and got into the bread flour, so our homemade bread for dinner turned out green!  The left jump ropes, hula hoops, candy, paints and other fun stuff.  I was so tired the night before that I didn't help the Leprechauns make as much mischief as they could have.  The next morning Hailey was looking all over the house for more mischief that they did.  So sweet.  I love this age.  We made corned beef and potatoes with homemade bread....that was green!  Nanny came for dinner and we enjoyed the day as a family.

Hailey is 4 at school

Hailey got to celebrate her birthday at school on Wednesday.  She gave a book, "Kitten's First Full Moon" by Kevin Henkes.  It is listed on Appendix B of the Common Core Standards, so I thought it would be a good book for the classroom.  She also took Purple Unicorn Juice (grape juice) and Unicorn Horns Yogurt (frozen yogurt tubes) for snack.  She said she had a fun day, the class sang her Happy Birthday and she chose to have "No ChaChaChas" in her song.  I can hardly believe it's been four years with her.

Curious George

On Friday our local Barnes & Noble had story time with Curious George.  The girls really enjoyed seeing him & sat so well during the story.  We met our playgroup there and they colored the pictures given with our friends.  After we headed over to the Chersecake Factiry for lunch.  We don't take them to restaurants often just because you have to sit quiet in them.  Who wants to do that when you're 3 & 5?!  But I thought it was a good time since it was lunch on a weekday.  They were fantastic!!! They enjoyed looking at the ceiling & discovering the story it told, loved the food and of course the cheescake!  Soooo delicious.  It was a really nice morning.  

Pi Day...2 days early

I've had so much going in this week.  Trying to get our Swan House rented, organizing our Nolina House & having the girls home for Spring Break.  I knew March 14 (3.14) was this week.  Something caught my eye to remind me & I dashed out the door on Wednesday (3.12) and bought a pie.  I even threw together a little measuring the circumference lesson & served pie telling the girls it was Pi Day!!!  Oh my.  So it was two days early...Pi is always rounded, right?  Sheesh!  

Tea for Three?

It's been so nice having them home for Spring Break.  We've had time together without rushing.  Each morning they've asked for a cup of tea.  I've gladly made it for them...green tea.  Yum.  They are the sweetest.  

Handwriting

Both girls needed some practice with their handwriting.  My great SIL recommended Handwriting Without Tears.  I bought the workbook & have seen excellent strides this week after practice.  Paige is consistently writing her name correctly.  Hooray!  

Dance class

For Spring Break I registered the girls for a little dance class through the City's Park & Rec.  It was fantastic!!! The teacher did so many age appropriate things with them, rhythm sticks, bean bag balancing, ballet positions, magic bags, Chinese folklore, etc.  She even gave them Fairy wings & framed pictures of them dancing to take home.  Both girls really enjoyed it.  I registered them for another class in April & May with the same teacher. She's fabulous.
