Ventriloquist

Hailey took a 2 week long reading and handwriting class to prep for kindergarten.  During that time I tried to do fun stuff with Paige.  One day the library had a free ventriloquist who put on a show.  He was great!  He had about 5 or 6 different puppets or dummies.  Paige really enjoyed it and is now at the age where she understands the humor and can enjoy the show for that aspect too.  It was about an hour long and free!  Oh, we had about a half hour to spare after the show and we got ice cream at Costco.  Can't beat that!

Ballet

The girls finished up their ballet class for the year.  They really enjoyed it and did learn the basics and fundamentals of ballet.  (Will they retain in?!)  They even have learned the beginnings of doing the splits.  Now on to Tumbling for next year. 

Independence Day 2015

Forth of July was fun this year.  We BBQed, swam and we let them stay up to go see the city's fireworks show.  BBQ was ehhh, we decided to do chicken legs and wings.  Both of us are tired of red meat and I still need to wrap my mind around fish.  So we tried these, I'll probably go back to hot dogs and hamburgers next year.  I also made an apple pie.  They had so much fun at the fireworks show.  It started at 9pm and we got back around 9:45.  They were so sweet, they each put themselves to bed on their own.  They came home, got in their jammies, got into bed and turned out their lights.  By the time I said good bye to my mom, Paige was asleep.  I have to say, "High Five" to Brian for our good parenting all these years at bedtime.  Routine works for us and the girls efforts show our years of hard work.

7th tooth lost

Paige lost her 7th tooth!  The left eye tooth.  The one on the other side is loose too.  Another toothless smile for school.  But once that one comes out, we can take her to the ortho!  :) 

School supply shopping

School is almost ready to start.  Sigh.  We got our supply list from our teachers so we went shopping.  They had fun picking out their own things.  Pencil boxes, pencils, scissors, glue, and donations to heir classrooms, hand sanitizer, soap, papertowel, wipes, etc.  Fun stuff.  We got Starbucks after. 

Summer Reading Program

We are following the Summer Reading Program put on by the library this summer.  They also got their own library cards.  The goal is 1000 minutes.  At 250 they got a free lunch to Chipotle and at 500 they got free books.  Hailey is almost at 1000 and Paige is at about 850.  We still have time! 

Cheerleading camp

The girls took a 3 week cheerleading camp that was offered through the school district.  They really liked it.  Hailey liked the cheer part; Paige liked the social part. 

We got to go see them perform the last day.

Kinder Grad

Paige's school did a really cute performance to celebrate Kindergarten Grad and moving to first grade.  Paige had a great year socially and emotionally and remained on track and meeting standards for her level.  I'm overly pleased, because I was tremendously scared when she started.  I'm proud of my girl. 

Wizard of Oz

We have a nice little community theater in Gilbert.  I took the girls to see The Wizard of Oz, which they had never read to heard about.  They loooooved it.  They have decided to be the Wicked Witch of the West and The Good Witch for Halloween.  Mama of course, is to be Dorothy.  We'll see if they change their minds between now and then. 

Last Day of Montessori

Hailey's last day of Montessori.  I will miss that school so much.  When she left she was reading 4-5 letter words with sound blends and understanding multiplication.  She is totally prepared for kinder. 

Just stuff

Some people will look at this necklace and bracelet as just stuff.  As her mother, I will treasure it.  She took special care to make mine red, my favorite color and to give it to me.  They are wonderful and I will treasure them. 

Superhero Day

The last week of school included Sprit Week where they dressed in something different each day.  This day was Superhero day.  She put together the outfit herself.  (Sheepskin boots on at 95 degree day?  Wow, superheros are tough!)

Diorama

Paige was assigned a diorama project for school about an assigned desert animal.  She got Long Horn Sheep (which she really wanted).  Even though she spiked a 103 fever at one point over the weekend we did this project, she still did a great job.  The drawing is a petroglyph on the mountain rock which we saw on hike we did over Spring Break with Uncle GUM.  She needed to include shelter (they live in open fields), water sources (they break open cactus with their horns and eat/drink the inside) and the animal.  I'm really proud of her and I'll confess I only gave her the ideas...she did the work! 

Mother's Day 2015

This was my first year since becoming a mother myself that I actually had the energy to put together a nice Mother's day brunch.  I think it's because the girls are getting more self sufficient and they sleep through the night.  I set the table outside under the Ramada for us to enjoy the weather and family time together.  It was a really nice day even with a heated pool for swimming after brunch.
