Reading

Paige is reading so well these days.  She really enjoys reading a bedtime to her Dollie.  She was so proud this night to have read this entire book. 

Tennis Fall 2015

Tennis started for Fall again yesterday.  I have them in a different class this year with 2 coaches and 16 students.  They are doing really well and getting their strokes and footing learned.  It will be a fun life long sport for them to play. 

9/11/15

Their school does a nice event on Sept 11 to have the students wear red, white and blue to school.  I really appreciate that it is recognized despite them really not knowing what happened on that day yet.  They know to be proud Americans. 

Hair styles

Oh me, oh my.  This is a hairstyle I'm trying to curtail from being an option.  But they LOVE it. 

I talked Hailey out of it, and managed to have Paige put them lower. 

A Monday morning

On weekday mornings the girls wake up between 6:30 and 7am.  They will either play quietly in the play area or snuggle with us in bed.  I found them this morning viewing their view masters with each other. 

Johanna Visit

Brian's sister Johanna and her two girls Reyna and Faith came to visit us for Labor Day weekend.  The girls had a ton of fun playing with their cousins who are much older than them, but still so sweet and patient to play with them.  They gave great examples too by really working hard to get their homework done over the weekend. 

We all went to the mall for lunch.  Here's a rare pic of Brian shopping at the mall.

After they left, Hailey had a long 3 hour nap.

Crafts

My aunt bought Paige a membership to a craft club where crafts are mailed to her every month.  I really like it because it get's them away from the screen on the weekends.  Here's Hailey doing some sand art. 

Paige's Writing

These are some writing journal entries that Paige brought home in her August Journal.  We are super pleased with her work. 

Tumbling

Because they have expressed interest in being cheerleaders, I have them enrolled in tumbling at a local gymnastics facility.  They are learning the splits, back bends, trampoline techniques, floor exercise, etc.  They both really like it, especially Paige.  It's fast paced and they can get energy out.  Perfect for Paige.  These are pictures of Hailey do a cartwheel on the trampoline.  She is really good. 

Cheer

I signed the girls up for a cheerleading session that the high school cheerleaders put on every year.  They go on a Saturday and learn the cheers and practice with the Varsity girls.  The on the next Friday they get to cheer on the football field with them.  They cheered for the entire 2nd quarter and then did a little half time show.  They really liked it.  However, the football game went waaaayyy past bedtime and I had two very sleepy girls.  They enjoyed it very much.  We'll probably do it every year as long as they want. 

Quiet time = spa shoppe

The girls still have quiet time everyday for an hour after school.  We all just need it.  During this particular quiet time Hailey set up a Spa for me to get my nails done.  So instead of homework that day after quiet time, we did nails.  :) 

School Picture day

School picture day is always interesting, we send them to school looking pretty, but then recess and school work happens.  This is how they looked going.  We actually got pretty good final results in the pictures that came back. 

Hailey's first lost tooth 7/29

Hailey lost her first tooth on Paige's 7th birthday!  She was so excited for the Tooth Fairy to come for HER this time. 

Cursive

They both want to learn cursive.  Because I worked with them so much on printing they have really pretty printing.  And since they expressed such big interest, we started it.  The top is Halley's work and the bottom Paige's.  It's harder than they thought! 

Mama Time

This was night Brain worked late.  We did a craft, watched Fantasia (They had never seen it.  The really liked the music and Paige loved the art), and got a bubble bath.  We had fun.

I can hardly believe my first born is 7 years old.  It really does feel like yesterday that I delivered her and was struggling in the hospital to feed her.  My, how things have changed.  Paige is growing into such an amazing person.  She is really fun to be around (when she not hungry or tired) because she sees and understands things in such a unique and different way.  Her beautiful mind is amazing and her imagination will go forever.  She loves the color teal right now.  She still loves to swim and really, really likes to paly computer games with her Dada (Mama has to really limit the screen time).  Her favorite part of school is recess, which warms my heart, because really that's what all 7 year olds should love about school.  She is kind to her sister, loves to play with her and always looks out for her.  She is learning about her own feelings and how to recognize them, however, she doesn't yet have the concept that other people might have feelings too, which sometimes makes her truthfulness hurtful to others, which is unintentional.  She is exceling in reading with the help of her tutoring and at a beginning second grade level.  Her fluency is beautiful and her comprehension at level.  Her math is developing and with practice she understands it.  I'm not sure we've totally found her sport yet, but we are exploring.  She really likes tumbling, which is really good for her to get extra energy out.  I think she finds cheer a bit challenging because of the recall needed to perform cheers as well and keeping track of left and right.  She does like tennis and seems to have the ability to perform it well with some good training and practice.  I think soccer is also an option for her still.  We've decided to keep swimming a fun recreational sport at home.  She's still a very picky eater but enjoys sugar and chocolate very much.  However I can usually get any kind of fruit in her at every meal.  Vegetables include carrots or broccoli.  Most of all, Paige is the most amazing artist.  She will sit for hours coloring and drawing.  She loooooves it.  I keep looking for occupations that involve art that provide a living wage, but they are few and far between. I would like to help guide her to one of them for her future.  Her fashion sense is quite different than mine in how she matches color or sees patterns put together, however, she does let me "help" in putting outfits together.  I know that once junior high and high school hit she will have her own style, but will be comfortable with it regardless of how non-mainstream it may be.  She's a joy to wake up to each day and take care of every minute.  I worry about her every other second, but try very hard to let her make decisions and lead her own life.  I am excited for her future, her seventh circle around the sun and being her mama during all of it.   

Paige's Well Check revealed a healthy growing girl.  We saw a new partner in the pediatric practice, but we will not be having her do another well check.  We'll stick with Dr Suhda for sure!

Blood Pressure:  109/69  (I fear she might have White Coat Syndrome like her Nanny.) 

As tradition has created she got a birthday donut and I had to decorate the house for her day.
